Available for most pleated and cellular shade fabrics, the “day / night” feature is another innovation that uses the same hardware operating system as the “top down / bottom up” feature. The difference is the addition of a 2nd fabric between the mid and upper rails, which is typically sheer or semi-opaque. By exposing the top fabric, you allow light to enter into the room during the day while maintaining some degree of privacy. At night, you raise the mid-rail to access the room darkening fabric below. By raising both rails to the top when direct sunlight is not present, you can almost clear the window completely to reveal the view outside. The real benefit of this product is having one system and 2 privacy levels complete with ample space for decorative hardware and layered fabric treatments overtop.
Day / night shades are an ideal solution for kitchen nooks, dining rooms, bedrooms, boardrooms, and even home theater applications. Child safety can also still be addressed using clutch lift systems and / or cord retainers.
