Trimmings
have been used throughout history to adorn drapery and
soft furnishings transforming simple rooms into grand
palaces. Drapery and valances become traditional or eclectic
when fabricated with fringe or scroll gimp available in
a rainbow of colors. Braids and loop fringe can be added
to blinds and shades to soften the appearance of hard
window coverings in a room. Sofas and chairs can also
be embellished with brush or bullion fringe to add sophistication
and increase comfort.
Tassels come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. History
has handed down numerous forms of inspiration, from as
far a field as Africa, Asia and the courts of Europe.
Traditionally, tassels were made from materials such as
cotton, but today chenille velvets or jute are being used
in combination with glass or wooden beads and often capped
with a wood or metal topper. These tassels are used in
traditional fashion to hold back drapery panels or adorned
onto cushions or chairs as an embellishment. On valances,
they can be used to accentuate shapes or draw attention
to specific points along the treatment. Bedding can become
sophisticated and tailored by using braids along seams
and / or fringe along the bottom edge. Tassels at the
corners can then be added to complete the look.
As with fabrics, colors and textures in trimmings also
change with time. At GiCor lodging projects ltd. we offer
a broad range of trimming and accessories to coordinate
with any treatment – new or existing.
