Giles Dupas is native to Calgary and has been involved in the interior design industry for over 40 years. His mother Anna Dupas was a well known interior designer in Calgary during the 70s, 80s & 90s and his father Rene Dupas was a procurement specialist for the Hudsons Bay & later joined Anna to form their business Design Textures Ltd. Since the early 80’s, Giles was part of Design Textures until Anna & Rene retired in the early 90s. At that point, Giles created his own agency representing several high end drapery lines in Alberta as the 90s Agency. Since then he has consulted, tendered, managed, and installed window coverings for both commercial and residential projects across Canada. In early 2002, GiCor lodging projects was created with a focus on window coverings, home furnishings and procurement. In 2019 GiCor introduced several architectural products into the Calgary market including a complete line of exterior shading systems. Since then he has challenged his team, educated his peers and created hundreds of satisfied clients across the country & abroad. Today Giles continues to develop new business ventures & opportunities, embrace new technologies and pursue challenging projects with his extremely talented team. In his personal life, Giles is married to wife Sherri and together they have 2 adult children. His interests are his family, water and snow skiing, paddleboarding, cycling, dirt biking, pickle ball, tennis, billiards (pool), travel and a good glass of red wine!
A true Albertan through and through, Athabasca, Red Deer, Edmonton and Calgary have all been home to Patti at one time.. While raising her two children, Patti acquired a diploma in interior design through ICS. Patti met Giles in the late 80’s at her design studio in Red Deer. As a manufacturer’s rep, Giles regarded Patti as one of his “favourite“ accounts. With the passing years, their mutual respect and friendship has flourished. Patti now resides in Cochrane, AB and mostly works between Calgary and the Banff Corridor. With almost 40 years of experience she brings extensive knowledge of interior decorating products from drapery and furniture to floor coverings and cabinetry. As a freelance designer, she excels at working with builders, renovators and clients on space planning, architectural detailing and specifying finishes.
Barb has extensive experience in administration, operations, and management, and brings a variety of skills to our team. Joining GiCor in 2007 she served many years as our office manager, contributing to process and business development. She currently serves as our special projects coordinator, including work on GiCor’ expanding procurement business. Her technical skills, detail orientation and focus on customer service help GiCor excel. “I’m proud to be part of the talented and creative team at GiCor! So many complimentary skills and collaborative people that create amazing solutions for our clients every day!” A rare “born and raised” Calgarian, Barb and her husband Steve are the proud parents of two adult daughters and grandparents of several grandchildren. Her somewhat part-time role at GiCor allows Barb to indulge in plenty of family and recreational activities, including her favorites, camping and golf.
Heidi joined GiCor in 2014 and we instantly knew she was a fit and great addition to our team. Heidi brings to the team a strong administrative background with over 15 years experience in both the interior design and construction industries with an emphasis on purchasing, tracking orders and coordinating installations. There is no one better at details, follow up and getting clients what they want and need! She lives in Dead Mans Flats, AB and works remotely. When she is not working, she enjoys the mountains and spending time in nature with her family, friends, and dog “Jesse”. Mountain Biking, Hiking, Running, Paddle Boarding, XC Skiing and Camping are some of her favorite things to do.
Liz joined our team in 2020 as an accounting ninja. Within a short period of time she also assumed the role of HR and office Manager. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge in construction accounting having worked in the industry for more than 30 years. Although she also wears many hats, her attention to detail is always evident whether its dealing with finances, AR, AP or HR. That’s alots of letters! She is new to Calgary having moved here at the end of 2019 from British Columbia to find something new and exciting and “BAM” she found GiCor. Every day there is something new, fresh, exciting, challenging and meaningful. In her free time she enjoys cooking and baking (has been known to bring a cheesecake or two to Install Meetings) She also is an avid curler, golfer and traveler. Her goal is to work remotely from a small apartment in Paris. How do you say “interior window coverings” in French?
Harman came on board in early 2023 to cover for one of our designers that was on an extended leave. Within a few months she earned a spot on the team and she has never looked back. She earned her Interior Decorating degree from Bow Valley College in 2022 and brings her creativity, enthusiasm and energy into everything that she undertakes. Harman possess a rare quality that is hard to find which is sheer determination. She is fantastic with our clients and does whatever it takes to give them top of class results. Her ability to review drawings, create drawings and manage many of our commercial tenders is second to none. If you don’t find her deep into a set of plans you will find her in our design center working with fabrics or at her computer creating new ideas for our clients. Harman grew up in India and came to Canada to build her future here one design at a time. Harman enjoys spending time with friends, loves to travel, enjoys music and is a bit of a foodie.
Sherri has been with GiCor from the beginning and creates brand awareness thru several of our social media platforms. She is creative and has a magical way of serving up what GiCor does in a way that’s enticing & appealing to our many clients and followers. Her role over the years exceeds her current title as she is often found behind the scenes as a business partner, confidante and cheerleader which has contributed to GiCor’s many years of success. Sherri also works part time for Lazboy as a merchandiser as she has a keen eye for design and how to make a room look & feel inviting and timeless. She also freelances using her many decorating skills to help clients achieve unique, personal and comfortable spaces. Sherri is creative, funny and always supportive as she and husband Giles strive to create a balanced approach to managing their business together. Sherri enjoys travel, great food, small gatherings with close friends, car games, pickleball, paddleboarding and long Long walks.
Adam is our “Go To” installer extraordinaire! He brings over 10 years of installation experience including some of the most challenging and technical projects that we have ever done. He joined our team full time in 2022 however has been working with our talented team as an installer since 2016. If you don’t see Adam with a drill in his hand, he is managing one of the many projects that we undertake on a monthly basis. Adam will tell you that no day is ever (well rarely) the same. An Albertan thru & thru, Adam makes his home in Calgary and is the proud father of two young men. His interests are everything baseball, curling and not a bad pool player as well.
Karen joined the GiCor team in the fall of 2021 and we all know what a trying time that was! Despite the world events going on at that time she took the bull by the horns and quickly found her stride. Karens focus is mainly residential window coverings however she is a quick study and does not shy away from any and all challenges. As GiCor grows, so does Karen’s portfolio which now includes interior & exterior shading, motorized systems, home furnishings and so much more to follow! Karen brings her knowledge of the window covering industry, her creativity, her enthusiasm and her detailed oriented focus into every project that she undertakes. Our clients love her as she is always punctual, gives 150% and creates beautiful spaces for her clients. In her down time, Karen and partner JP pursues fitness goals together, love to travel. She also enjoys sewing and one day would like to have a street bike. With her drive & determination it wont be long now.
Darren wears many hats at GiCor. He oversees and rolls up his sleeves in the Accounting, Finance, Human Resources and Corporate Operations functions. Darren loves to use his varied experience to complement the team at GiCor. Drawing from his functional and leadership experience in Business Development, Market Research, Recruitment and Executive Search, Darren has been focused on enabling architectural, engineering, construction and energy firms to grow and thrive with the best people. Darren also taught Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Human Resources at the Bisset School of Business (Mount Royal University). His education at the University of Calgary was focused in Marketing, Human Resources and Finance where achieved his B.Comm. and MBA degrees. Darren’s work has taken him to across Canada and into the US with some extended times in Fort McMurray and Edmonton. He is a native Calgarian, with Saskatchewan roots, where his Grandfather homesteaded after immigrating from Argentina in 1913. Darren loves to be active and is involved in teaching, coaching, refereeing and enjoying activities like hockey, soccer, skiing, sailing, public speaking, latin dance and is starting to dabble in yoga.
Newest member of the GiCor Installation team, JP brings experience from the construction and hospitality sectors. As an avid learner and puzzle enthusiast, he enjoys the problem-solving aspects involved with installing and programming custom window coverings. Its really no surprize to us that he is also continuing his education to become and mathematics teacher. Interests include reading, weightlifting, math, science, Philosophy, and education. Time spent with family and friends is chief among the things that he cherishes most.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, one of the world’s most vibrant cities, Cindy began her professional career in aircraft engineering and flight safety. She then became certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP ®) and a professional organizer. Moving to Calgary in 2023, Cindy realized the importance of space planning and design and was inspired to pursue a creative shift where she enrolled in the Interior Decorating and Automation program at Bow Valley College. Once graduating, her technical acumen and passion for translating into aesthetics have led her to join our GiCor dream team which continuously innovates and delivers space-transforming projects. She is always energetic and easy to impress clients with her can-do attitude. Outside of work and study, she loves organizing and redecorating her space, enjoying flora and fauna at trails, searching for no-stress recipes, or planning her next leisure trip.
Greg Fukushima is a Registered Professional Engineer with APEGA and has had a 30 plus year career in the Electronics Manufacturing industry. He has progressed through several Technical, Project Management and People Management positions over his Career in this industry. Starting DFS Technologies (a Home Theatre and Automation Company) in the early 2000s with Partner Tony Smythe he developed expertise in all aspects of Home Theatre, Whole House audio / video and Home automation. In 2009, Greg was involved in the design and implementation of a home theatre which won the Electronic House Magazine – Home Theatre award for “Projects Under $100K”.In 2012, Tony moved to the Vancouver area which is when GiCor home technology was born. From that point, Greg has designed & managed AV projects in both residential and commercial spaces including Restaurants, Bars and Commercial Office spaces with budgets ranging from $5K to $300K. With his technical knowledge, project management and people skills, Greg is the kind of guy that you want on your team & on your project. In his personal life, Greg is married to wife Shelley and living in NW Calgary. You can be sure that his house is fully tricked out and that his interest in automation doesn’t end at the office. His other interests are his family, his dog / cat, downhill skiing, billiards (pool), ping pong & music (he even plays guitar in a real band)!
A resident of Victoria BC, has been in theElectronics Tech industry for more than 30 years with over 20 years of programming Automation systems for industry and residences alike. He now specializes in designing and programming for GiCor in BC on more complex Control4 automation projects. In his free time he enjoys renovating, kayaking, cycling running and new technology.
