GiCor lodging projects ltd. was established in 2002. Founder Giles Dupas has a philosophy of exceeding client expectations and transforming vision into reality. GiCor provides professional, qualified, and personalized experiences for both residential & commercial projects. Our fully automated showroom in NE Calgary displays an impressive collection of window coverings, area rugs, furniture, wall coverings, fabric lines, and some of the most unique and innovative product lines available in the marketplace today. With a strong focus on unique and automated shading systems, GiCor offers one of the most broad range of interior & exterior systems, controls and design options. Our staff are friendly, outgoing, extremely knowledgeable and we pride ourselves in helping our clients create the most amazing spaces possible! Essentially this is not our first rodeo and our projects reflect that experience.

In 2009, GiCor purchased JP custom drapery ltd. from Don and Kathleen Coombes. Although now retired, the knowledge that Don & Kathleen brought is still reflected in all of the custom drapery treatments that we create..

In 2012, GiCor launched GiCor home technologies inc. Seeing a shift in the market towards whole home / automated solutions, Giles and Greg use modern day technology to bring exceptional client experiences in the areas of home theater, automation, and green solutions for residential and commercial spaces. Giles Dupas is native to Calgary and has been involved in the interior design industry for almost 40 years. Since the early 80’s, he has consulted, tendered, managed, and installed window coverings for both commercial and residential projects. In early 2003, GiCor lodging projects was created with a focus on window coverings, home furnishings and procurement. Today Giles continues to develop new business ventures & opportunities, embrace new technologies and pursue challenging projects with his extremely talented team.

In his personal life, Giles is happily married to wife Sherri and together they have 2 adult children. His interests are his family, water and snow skiing, cycling, dirt biking, pool and paddleboarding.

A true Albertan through and through, Athabasca, Red Deer, Edmonton and Calgary have all been home to Patti at one time. While raising her two children, Patti acquired a diploma in interior design through ICS. Patti met Giles in the late 80’s at her design studio in Red Deer. As a manufacturer’s rep, Giles regarded Patti as one of his “favourite“ accounts. With the passing years, their mutual respect and friendship has flourished. Patti is now in her element working with the team at GiCor. With over 27 years of experience she brings extensive knowledge of interior decorating products from drapery and furniture to floor coverings and cabinetry. As a freelance designer, she excels at working with builders, renovators and clients on space planning, architectural detailing and specifying finishes.

With more than two decades in administrative, operational and management experience, Barb Marjoram brings a broad range of skills to our team. Her strong customer service focus and knowledge in procurement have served her well in a variety of industries. Her keen interest in process improvement and policy development supports us to continually work at our best. Barb is involved in the areas of accounting, HR and project administration as a strong, collaborative team member.

A rare “born and raised” Calgarian, Barb and her husband Steve are the proud parents of two adult daughters. Her somewhat part-time role at GiCor allows Barb to indulge in plenty of family and recreational activities, including her favorites, camping and golf.

Heidi brings to the team a strong administrative background in both the interior design and construction industries with an emphasis on coordinating installations. She considers her specialty to be ‘Organizing the Troops’ to get the business Done!

When shes not working on GiCor business, you can find her running by the river with her dog “Hope”. Cooking, BBQing, Hiking, Camping, Mountain bike rides with her husband and friends, are some of her favorite things to do.

Darren wears many hats at GiCor. He oversees and rolls up his sleeves in the Accounting, Finance, Human Resources and Corporate Operations functions.

Darren loves to use his varied experience to complement the team at GiCor. Drawing from his functional and leadership experience in Business Development, Market Research, Recruitment and Executive Search, Darren has been focused on enabling architectural, engineering, construction and energy firms to grow and thrive with the best people. Darren also taught Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Human Resources at the Bisset School of Business (Mount Royal University). His education at the University of Calgary was focused in Marketing, Human Resources and Finance where achieved his B.Comm. and MBA degrees.

Darren’s work has taken him to across Canada and into the US with some extended times in Fort McMurray and Edmonton. He is a native Calgarian, with Saskatchewan roots, where his Grandfather homesteaded after immigrating from Argentina in 1913. Darren loves to be active and is involved in teaching, coaching, refereeing and enjoying activities like hockey, soccer, skiing, sailing, public speaking, latin dance and is starting to dabble in yoga.

Liz is one of the newest members of the GiCor team. She brings with her a wealth of experience including involvement in commercial construction, full cycle accounting and even a stint in fisheries for the first nations.

When she isn’t doing accounting, which will be never, her hobbies are Curling, Cooking, Travel and volunteering for the Kidney Foundation.

Originally hailing from Dehradun, Utarakhand, India, Isha comes from a background of home and commercial designing with a deep understanding of space planning to furniture selection, she enjoys all aspects of the furniture and design world. Her great sense of color, form and design trends makes her an deal team member of Gicor group.

Born and raised in Alberta, Sherri has had a wide range of employment experience within the travel industry, teaching, and interior decor. After a long stint in the travel industry, she started a family and began working from home in corporate appreciation. Eventually she moved towards home decor and design. Since she has always had a passion for both home decor, the arts and all things creative , it was natural to become involved with interior design and all areas related. Her role with GiCor is in marketing and more specifically social media and GiCor’s online presence.

Born and raised in Halifax Nova Scotia, she moved to Red Deer in 2010 and most recently to Calgary in 2019. Over the years she has gained knowledge and experience working in sales and leadership roles within the interior decor, window coverings and home fashions industry. She has a natural love and appreciation for creative style, artistic flair, attention to detail and custom interior fashions that offer advanced technology solutions. She also takes pride in representing designers that produce quality made fabric and furniture.

In her down time, she enjoys sewing, reading, writing, designing and drawing. She also enjoys nature, running, snowboarding and wants to own a motorcycle in the near future.

Greg Fukushima is a Registered Professional Engineer with APEGA and has had a 24 year career in the Electronics Manufacturing industry. He has progressed through several Technical, Project Management and People Management positions over his Career in this industry.

Over the past 9 years Greg has been a partner in DFS Technologies Inc., a Home Theatre and Automation Company where he developed expertise in all aspects of Home Theatre, Whole House audio / video and Home automation. In 2009, Greg was involved in the design and implementation of a home theatre which won the Electronic House Magazine – Home Theatre award for “Projects Under $100K”. More recently Greg has managed AV projects in residential and commercial spaces including Restaurants, Bars and Commercial Offices with budgets ranging from $50K to $200K.

With his technical knowledge, project management and people skills, Greg is the kind of guy you want on your team.

About JP Custom Draperies

JP custom draperies has been proudly serving residential clients since in Calgary since the early 70’s. Originally founded by Pat & Jerry Vander Wal, JP was then purchased in the 80s by Don and Kathleen Coombes and continued to operate under the JP banner for another 25 years. In December of 2009, JP was acquired by GiCor where Don and Kathleen continued to service their clients until the passing of Don in 2016 & Kathleen’s retirement in 2020. Now part of the GiCor fold, we continue to provide the same level of exceptional service and creativity that JP’s clients had come to experience for the 5 plus decades that it has been in business. In fact we now deal with clients – some of which include three generations of the same family. Even moreso, these clients now have access to a much broader line of beautiful custom drapery and upholstery fabrics, automated shading systems, exterior shading systems, custom bedding, area rugs, bar stools and access to our fully automated smart home systems.
